Joseph Zeek Koons

Joseph Zeek Koons, 77, of Ocala passed away on August 4, 2016. Joseph was born in Hartford City, Indiana on July 13, 1939. As a young man he obtained an Associate degree from Wayne State University and spent 8 years serving his country proudly in the Air Force. Joseph also met his loving wife Theresa of 52 years during this time. Before moving to Florida he also spent 25 years with Dearborn Heights Police Department in Michigan and joined the United States Power Squadron of Dearborn. Later he would proudly be part of Florida Department of Transportation for 10 years. Joseph was part of sever organizations including the Masonic Temple Olive Branch #542 Dearborn, Michigan, American Legion Post 219, NRA, and The First United Methodist Church of Ocala. He had several hobbies that included collecting Scooters, Guns, Boating and reading or watching anything that had to do with Military or Civil War History. He was preceded in death by Clarence Dow Koons, Reva Zeek Koons, and Carol Ann Bonser-Frankowitz. Joseph is survived by loving wife Theresa Koons; daughters Jeanette Ann Koons, Mary Koons, Lori Suzanne Koons, and son Joseph Zeek Koons, Jr. He had five grandchildren, Nicole Theresa Bowman, Kaitlyn Rose Koons, Caleb Zeek Koons, Landon Christian Koons, Braydon Joseph Koons, and one great grandchild Reginald Raushad Bowman. Donations should be made in Joseph’s name to the Marion County Humane Society. Private Family services will be held at a later date.
