James W. "Jim" Anzalone, 86, of Ocala, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died Tuesday, June 27, at Marion Oaks Assisted Living. He was the beloved husband of Naomi (McPeak) Anzalone for 63 years.
Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Cataldo Anzalone and Eleanor (Sheleski) Anzalone and spent his youth in Kingston. After graduating from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Jim began his 37-year career at PPG, in Pittsburgh, PA. Concurrently, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserves, until his honorable discharge in 1964. It was at PPG that he met his wife, Naomi. In the early years, Jim was an auditor for PPG, and the couple lived in Corpus Christi, TX, and Lone Pine, CA before settling back in Pittsburgh. Along the way, they celebrated the births of their five children. In 1987, Jim was transferred to PPG, Natrium, WV. In conjunction with the transfer, the family moved to St. Clairsville, OH, where they resided until his retirement from PPG in 2000. In 2000, Jim and Naomi moved to Ocala, where they resided until his death. While in Ocala, Jim began a second career, where he was a successful realtor for Coldwell Banker for about ten years.
During his years in Ocala, he and Naomi lived in Oak Run and were active in square dancing, round dancing, ballroom dancing, country and western dancing, Irish Club, Italian Club, and New York Club. In addition, they did a lot of traveling, both in the U.S. and internationally.
A devout Catholic, Jim was a member at Queen of Peace Church and never missed Mass.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children, Susan A. Kline, wife of Robert C. Kline, of St. Petersburg, James M. Anzalone, husband of Leomar B. (Vaca) Anzalone, of Lake Worth, Diane A. Schofield, wife of Aubrey W. Schofield III, of Fredericksburg, TX, Linda A. Anzalone, of Portland, OR, and Michael D. Anzalone, of Portland, OR; and two sisters, Marianne Anzalone, of Ocala, and Gloria Labatch, wife of Robert Labatch, of Ocala.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Andrew P. Kline, husband of Theresa (Ngo) Kline, of Durham, NC, James W. Kline, husband of Sarah (Wales) Kline, of Raleigh, NC, Aubrey W. "Tex" Schofield IV, of Fredericksburg, TX, William D. Kline, of St. Petersburg, Alec J. Anzalone, of Lake Worth, Violet Jane Schofield, of Fredericksburg, TX, Danil F. Anzalone, of Lake Worth, and Summit Joseph "JoJo" Anzalone, of Portland, OR.
He is also survived by great grandson, Charles A. Kline, of Durham, NC. A great granddaughter is expected to be born in Raleigh, NC in September.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Church, Ocala. Date and time to be determined. Internment will also be at Queen of Peace Church, Ocala.
He leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, compassion, and caring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Gentiva Hospice, Ocala, or Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ocala, in memory of James W. Anzalone.
