Florence was born November 6, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Landon High School in 1955. She attended the University of Florida before returning to Jacksonville to work for State Farm Insurance and prepare for her wedding. On January 17, 1959, Florence married Jack Leonard Arthur, also from Jacksonville. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker and volunteered for the American Red Cross, Special Olympics and at her children’s schools.
Later in life, Florence learned to sail and play golf and took quilting and stained-glass making classes. She was accomplished in sewing, quilt making, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed traveling with Jack throughout the country and on cruise ships. She was an avid reader, loved Bunco and Dollar Bingo and was a fan of all Gator sports.
Florence is survived by her sister Judith Vick (Harold) and brother Tom Rowe (Barbara); her daughters Donna Boynton (Paul) and Constance Ponder (Jeff); her grandchildren Amanda Taylor (Kelsey), Kristin Emery (Josh), Dylan Boynton (Holly), Tyler Graham (Emily), Sarah Farley (Seth), Joshua Ponder (Lauren), Caleb Ponder and Emma Ponder; and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Mildred Rowe; her husband of 63 years, Jack L. Arthur; and her daughter, Andrea Graham (Rick).
