Edgar (Ed) Hall, 76, died at Serenades in The Villages, Florida, on Thursday, January 11, 2018, while fighting Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Zeeland, Michigan, on January 10, 1942; the second child of Leslie Hall and Marion (Tloczynski) Hall Schuchard. He is survived by his wife and partner in life of 51 years, Alison Hall of The Villages, FL; daughter, Thanuja Hall of Washington, DC; brother, Leslie Hall, Jr. and wife Pauline of Walker, MI; sister, Bonnie Somers and husband Jerry of Snowflake, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He developed a lifelong interest in art with the support of mentors during his formative years of education in Zeeland. In high school he was the quarterback for the football team and the president of his senior class. He attended Western Michigan University, where he met Alison Jozwick, and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After graduation, Ed and Alison married and joined the Peace Corps. They devoted two years to the community of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India, concentrating in agriculture education and building two school buildings. Funding for one of the buildings was raised in Zeeland schools by Ed reaching out and receiving support from his hometown. He developed a lasting appreciation for India’s people, culture, and food. Upon return to the states, they started their family. Ed earned a Master in Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Ed used his talent to teach art and worked in commercial art for different companies throughout his working career while taking time to continue his own artistic interests. He had many friends in the local art community wherever he lived, including partnerships with galleries and studios. In 2001, the dream of designing his own home with an art studio came true when Ed and Alison had a home built in the woods near Quakertown, PA. He retired as a graphic artist and spent the next few years relishing his time in his studio and traveling to Canada, the western U.S., Peru, India, Ireland, Spain, and cruising the Caribbean. Complications from Parkinson’s Disease resulted in Ed and Alison moving to The Villages where they received wonderful support from the Parkinson’s community.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center, 1985 Laurel Manor Drive, The Villages, FL, on Wednesday January 24, 2018 from 10 AM to noon in the Jefferson Room.
