Donald was born on March 18th, 1957, to Wallace and Earla (Kenney) Watson in Caribou, Maine. After high school Donald joined the United States Army. He served his country honorably for 6 years. Donald was a member of the Service Battery 1/39th Field Artillery Regiment. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge M-16, Driver’s Badge, and Presidential Unit Citation.
After leaving the Army he became a Tractor Trailer Truck Driver where he traveled the country and finally settled in Florida. Donald then went on to be a marine mechanic then an RV Technician where he would remain for 30 plus years in the industry. He was last employed by Optimum RV of Bushnell, FL.
Donald worked up until his illness. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, canoeing, kayaking, the beach, playing Cribbage, Uno and Dominoes. He enjoyed watching Nascar with his daughter, Angie every weekend. He also enjoyed flying kites and spending his free time with his great grandson Hunter and his dog Jack.
Donald was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Angie Butler of Lake Panasoffkee, FL his brother Wallace D. Watson (Lillian) of Bolivar, MO, his sister Norma Watson (Guy Jackson) of Portage Lake, ME, his four grandchildren Christopher Lawless (Krista) of Westerly, RI, Austin Rupp (Amy) of Tiverton, RI, Meaghan-Rose Tolbert (Wayne) of Groton, CT and Shelby Wilmar of North Stonington, CT. He leaves behind three nephews, Derek (Juanita), Ian (Marcy), and Devin (Maria) Watson. as well as 8 great nieces and nephews. Donald also leaves his three great grandchildren Hunter (the apple of his eye), Mitchell, and Autumn. He also leaves a very special to his heart aunt, Phyllis McGregor.
Services will be private at the family's discretion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Planned Pethood Cares 735 E CR 470, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538, an organization Donald felt strongly about.
