Donald Richard Hanson (Angel 2), age 91 of The Villages, FL and formerly from Sarasota, FL, Las Vegas, NV and Milwaukee, WI, passed away on May 28th surrounded by loved ones. He will be remembered for his love of motorcycles, airplanes and family.
Don was raised in Milwaukee, WI by his parents Ted and Norma Hanson. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in July 13th, 1956.
He met his wife Gerda in 1978 at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Greendale, WI. They were married Feb 17, 1979. They were happily married for 43 years.
He retired from Evinrude, Outboard Motors where he had worked in the research department as an engineering technician. After retirement, he moved with his wife Gerda to Las Vegas, NV. He lived there for almost 25 years and enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the desert. This is where he earned his nickname Angel 2, from his riding buddies from Church. His last few years were spent in Sarasota and The Villages, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ted and Norma Hanson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gerda A. Hanson and their children Glenn Hanson, Lisa Adali-Piston (Tom Piston), Laura Harvart (Karl Harvart) and John Adali (Ann Adali); grandchildren Garrick Hanson, Michael Adali, and Alexandra Baldwin (Jared Baldwin); and great grandchild Abigail Piston.
He will be interred at Sarasota Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 pm on August 11, 2023.
A memorial service will take place on August 26th at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Greendale Wisconsin. Flowers may be sent to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
