Dear Family,
My heart is in deep sorrow. Aunt Diane was a second mother to me. I idolized her. She was one of the most vivacious, charming,  funny, loving, caring and tenacious women I knew. Her strength was awe inspiring. Her love for her boys, siblings and later daughter-in-laws,  grandchildren was a 100 fold. One of my favorite memories was hearing about how she got my dad on her horse and slapped on the tush. When horse took off, she yelled welcome to the family Niki..lol When my mom her sister Fran was in ICU she sat with me along with Aunt Jo. She helped me understand what was happening. When my father was sick with Cancer. she came to visit. Eventhough, she was suffering.  I will never forget her. My heart goes out to you. Love you all.  Take care and we are here if you need us.

Aunt Diane was without question the single most influencing force behind me becoming a nurse.  While listening to her many stories of her health care experiences (funny, happy, sad) I developed a love for this profession-solely through her eyes.  My nursing career-spanding more than 40 years, is a a credit to her.  
She LOVED horses- and her love for these fine creatures was contagious.  I was lucky enough to tag along with her and ride horseback through farmer's fields and woods for hours.  I can still see her riding Dominick and I can't help but smile.  
My aunt loved poetry and shared this love with me and my siblings at a young age.  I can remember reciting one poem - "Strictly Germ-Proof"  by Arthur Guiterman -to my 5th grade teacher who stood and listened to me recite in awe.  Aunt Diane not only taught us the poem, but explained what each verse meant.  She would read from her book ' The Best Loved Poems of the American People' by Hazel Fellerman often.  Years later, while in high school, I found a copy of that book in the school's library.  I am not ashamed to say I brought it home with me and never returned it .  To this day it is one of my favorite possessions.
And she loved the game Scrable.  God she was good at it. She would make me play with her and kick my butt whenever she could.  My vocabulary grew 10 fold during those gaming years.
All being said, I think it is safe to say my Aunt Diane left her undeniable and lasting imprint on my life...

Aunt Diane and Raleigh would come see my father whenever they came to NY. He liked to visit with people before he had passed. It's no surprise that Linda Watson  would pass on the same day. They were like sisters, beasties until the end. Aunt Diane outlived all of her sisters and brother. She will be missed by everyone. We all love her and know she and Linda will be in heaven with all the family and Adam Sutherland her son. Take care of yourselves Tony and Raleigh It's hard to deal with a loss such as this. Take care of your loved one one's you never know when they'll be gone. Raleigh you and your family did a good job being there for your mom. Love you
