Mr. Delbert R. Farrar, age 90, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at home in Bushnell, Florida. Delbert was born August 5, 1933, to Ralph and Beulah Farrar. He was a graduate of Bushnell High School, class of 1951. He attended the University of Florida before joining the U.S. Air Force, serving for 20 year, including a tour in Vietnam. He served as the ground crew chief for Air Force One during the terms of several Presidents.
After retiring from the USAF, Delbert joined the United States Capitol Police in Washington, D.C. for another 20 years.
He returned to Bushnell after retirement, living near his childhood home. There he served in the auxiliary police force for Sumter County. He and his wife, Louise, also delivered meals for the Wahoo Baptist church for 17 years.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Louise, son David (Elizabeth), daughter Diane (David O'Neil), brother Timothy (Betty), and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by his brother R.K. Farrar Jr.
Funeral will be at the FL National Cemetery Friday, October 13th at 10:00 am.
Please arrive by 9:30am. You will receive instructions from the guard at the front gate.
