“You’ll never know just how much we loved you, You’ll never know just how much we cared” Bill B. Wilson of Briar Meadow North passed away on June 7, 2016 at the age of 94. He was born in Tipton, Oregon on February 3, 1922 and enlisted in the Army Air Corp in January 1942. He graduated from pilot training, class of 44K as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1945 and married Frances Costello of Weirsdale, Florida in May of the same year. He flew combat gliders, P38’s, P51D’s, and F47D’s. To his great disappointment, World War II ended before he could fly combat missions. He attended the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and during a three year tour of duty in Ankara, Turkey as Base Civil Engineer, he earned a Bachelor of Military Science degree from the University of Maryland. After 24 years in the military he retired in 1966 as a Major. He had a second career as Director of Physical Plant and Construction at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Bill’s favorite hobbies were golf and bridge and he belonged to MOAA and the American Legion. He is survived by Frances, his wife of 71 years and the love of his life; his beloved daughter Denice; his admired and loved son-in-law Steve Scott; a special niece Krista Davis (Don); and four nephews and three nieces in the Pacific Northwest. There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
