Albert W. Daub, age 86, passed away on August 16, 2017 in The Villages, FL. Husband, father, grandfather and friend of many, Al was born in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in Westwood, NJ. Al was a resident of The Villages, FL and Beach Haven, NJ. Al is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Marty) Jolly Daub and four sons; Steven (Dita) of Burnsville, MN; David (Ellen) of Cape Coral, FL; Thomas (Pamela) of Totowa, NJ and Michael (Louise) of New Gretna, NJ. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Brian, James, Elizabeth and her husband Jack, Stephanie, Eric, Gabriel and Genevieve. Al was predeceased by his parents, Mary J. Huber and Albert Daub, and a sister, Joan Daub. Al was a graduate of Bordentown Military Academy, Bordentown, NJ and Washington & Lee University, Lexington, VA where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He earned a MLS from Rutgers University NJ. He was proud of his military service in the US Army having served during the war in Korea. Al retired as President of Scarecrow Press, Inc., a division of the Scholastic Corporation. He also served on the Endowment Fund of the American Library Association. A resident of Watchung, NJ, where he resided for 32 years, Al was very involved in Little League Baseball and youth basketball. Al also served on the Watchung Planning Board for 12 years. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing, clamming and body surfing near his home in Beach Haven, NJ. Arrangements are by The Neptune Society. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Beach Haven First Aid Squad, Center Street, Beach Haven, NJ; The Watchung Rescue Squad Stirling Rd., Watchung, NJ; or Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778-9648 would be most appreciated.
