June 25, 1945 – September 29,2026
Joseph Frank Gonsalves, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and honored veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in Manteca, CA.
Born on June 25, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Abel and Cyrilla Gonsalves, Joseph moved with his family to Castro Valley, California, in 1957. Growing up as part of a large, vibrant family, he cherished the countless gatherings filled with relatives, friends, and lifelong memories at the family home.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to a successful 42-year career as a Parts Technician for Toyota Dealerships, where his expertise and work ethic were widely respected.
From a young age, Joseph possessed an enduring passion for cars and racing. Over the years, he owned and built several hot rods. He spent decades working under the hood, a hobby he never outgrew, and he always looked forward to reading his favorite car magazines.
Above all, Joseph’s greatest joy was his family. He spent 41 beautiful years married to the love of his life, Judy Griffin-Gonsalves, building a life centered on love, devotion, and shared memories.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Gonsalves; his daughters, Jennifer Gonsalves and Angela Gonsalves; and his granddaughters, Emily Vandever and Alicia Gonsalves. He also leaves behind two sisters, two brothers, and a large, loving network of nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss his warmth and presence deeply.
