Bob was born in Swain, Arkansas, on January 23, 1941, as the third son of the late Ray and Opal Eversole (Watson). After moving to California at the age of 10, his family settled in the Bay Area, where he later joined the Emeryville Fire Department. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving his community before retiring as a Shift Captain. He continued serving his community in his later years through his advocacy work with the Tracy and San Joaquin County Democratic Clubs as a delegate to the California State Democratic Convention. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing, camping and golfing, but most of all, he loved creating memories with his family and friends through those activities. A man of many talents and skills, he was an award-winning winemaker and a skilled jack-of-all-trades who was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone. He was a family man to his core and will be exceptionally missed by his wife of 63 years, Alyce; daughters Sharon MacLean and Lisa Eversole; treasured granddaughters Lauren and Jenna Voorhies; surviving siblings Tom, Barbara and Brian Eversole; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and anyone who knew him outside of his immediate family as “Uncle Bob” or “Grampa Bob.” He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Jim and Ray Eversole Jr. His presence is and will continue to be missed dearly, but his spirit and values will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered as a man of incredible integrity, warmth and quiet strength, and most of all, for the example he set and the lasting memories he created. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Tracy Fire Station 97 for their swift and compassionate response in each instance of need. In honor of his legacy, Bob’s family prefers that any donations made in his name be directed to the California Fire Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held for family and friends on Friday, October 30th, 11am to 4pm at the Redwood Canyon Golf Club in Castro Valley. Contact the Neptune Society of Stockton for details.
