Wyatt Jonas Halbig

Wyatt Jonas Halbig, 13, of Colbert, Washington passed away on December 13, 2022. He was born on May 20, 2009, to Richard and Erica Halbig. Wyatt leaves behind his three brothers Kaleb Abner, Owen Halbig, and Harrison Halbig, and his three sisters, Emma Halbig, Clara Halbig, and Aurora Halbig. He also leaves behind both sets of loving grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, who are all devastated by his tragic and all too-early death.

Wyatt was born in Camarillo, California and came into this world on a hot summer-like evening with a full head of bright red hair. Born into a military family, Wyatt lived in and visited more of the United States than most people do in a lifetime, including Alaska, Nebraska, and Virginia. Wyatt moved to Washington state in the summer of 2019, when his family bought their dream home and took over a farm in Green Bluff. The family learned how to farm together, tending to fruit trees, planting Christmas trees, and raising chickens.

Wyatt and his family enjoyed camping and hiking together, and he grew up in the great outdoors, traveling to places like Glacier and Jaspar National Parks, Radium Hot Springs, and the Mendenhall Glacier. In 2022, the family visited Disneyworld in Florida, camped off the Oregon coast, and spent summer days at their lake house in Idaho.

Wyatt was an 8th grader at Mountainside Middle School. He joined the Mountainside Mountain Lions cross-country and track teams, and came in first place at one of the meets in the 1.5 mile race with a time of 9 minutes and 25 seconds. His season record was 9 minutes and 10 seconds. He was an avid reader, and loved to play chess, badminton, and board games.

A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2022, 1100 AM at High Country Orchard. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wyatt Halbig Memorial Fund, Wells Fargo Bank, Account# 1947255897 where all donations will be used to support search and rescue volunteer dog organizations to quickly help find missing and runaway children.
