Tom McLaughlin was born in Usk, Washington on September 13, 1936, and passed away August 31, 2017, only 18 days after his wife, Pat, of nearly 60 years passed away. He spent part of his childhood in Usk, but was primarily raised in Spokane where he attended Field Elementary and North Central High School. He served 3 years in the US Army. After he and Pat were married, they started life in Spokane, and later moved the family to a farm in Deer Park. Over the course of their lifetime, they built a circle of friendships that continue to this day. This was never more apparent than these last few years as we never had a lack of love and concern for both of our parents. A wonderful legacy. Besides commuting to Spokane to build and pave roads, he loved his other life as a "gentleman farmer" in Deer Park, where he grew alfalfa and raised various farm animals over the years. He spent time walking and working the fields of the farm, enjoying time with friends and family, and was always helping others along the way. He was survived by his sisters Bonnie Young, Pat Kirihara, and Pam Kruger, his cousin Gary McLaughlin who was like a brother to him, and his three children Mikki, Kathy, and Scott. He had ten grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Pat, and his parents, Tom and Elsie McLaughlin.
