Shona Marlene Bishop

Shona Marlene (Bishop) Cutlip, lovingly known as mom/sister/grandma/auntie/friend, passed away on August 6, 2023, at the age of 86 in Spokane, WA. She was born on June 21, 1937, in Modesto, CA, to her parents Francis E. Bishop and Carolyn E. Gerne. Shona was a beautiful, caring, and free-spirited woman who had a deep love for her family, music, imagination, and animals. Despite the hardships that life brought her way, she remained encouraging to others. She was strong and amazing, fighting life with honor until the very end.

Shona's true passion was music, it was therapy for her. She was a professional and gifted musician, using her heart and talent to touch the lives of many. As a single mother, Shona raised her three children while playing the piano beautifully. She taught herself to sing, adding another layer to her musical abilities. Throughout her career, Shona shared her musical talents with others, bringing joy to their lives.

Aside from her musical pursuits, Shona was a compassionate caregiver. Before retiring, she dedicated her time and care to elderly adults. Her kindness and dedication made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for.

While Shona did not have a place of worship she called her own, Jesus held a special place in her heart. Her faith was a source of comfort and strength throughout her life.

In her free time, Shona enjoyed various hobbies. She cherished spending time with her family, playing the piano and keyboard, and exploring the fields of science and psychology. Shona also had a passion for kindness, ancestry, gardening, animal rescue, and empathy. These interests reflected her compassionate and nurturing nature.

Per Shona's request, there will not be a formal service to commemorate her life. Instead, her ashes will be sprinkled in her beloved garden, a place where she loved to work and found solace and peace. In memory of Shona, contributions can be made to your local animal shelter. Shona had a deep love for animals, and she would be honored to support their well-being. She always longed for every animal to have its own family to call home.

Shona Marlene Cutlip is survived by her daughter, Diana Cutlip (Cameron, Tyler, Jonathan) of Yreka, CA; her son, Troy & Laurinda Cutlip (Regan) of Spangle, WA; her granddaughter, Amber & Jesse Hallett (Abbigail, Lucas, Madalynn) of Scappoose, OR; her granddaughter, Ashley Cutlip (Addison) of Forest Grove, OR; and her granddaughter, Elise Morse (Tylan & Korbyn) of Forest Grove, OR. Shona was preceded in death by her eldest son, Brett Cutlip.

Shona's legacy will live on through the memories and love she shared with her family and friends. Her family cherished and loved memories with her too.
