Roberta K “Berta””Becky” Neils Hanson, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully into Heaven on February 2, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Great Falls, MT and raised in Spokane where she graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1962.
Becky was known for her LOVING nature, FUN spirit, LOUD voice, and DEEP devotion to her family. She loved her animals of all shapes and sizes, from Bessy the milk cow to Bubbie the Boston Terrier. Her passion and zeal really shined through with her commitment and dedication to Thoroughbred Race Horses. She owned, trained, ponied, and worked as an Outrider for many years from the days of CdA, Playfair Race Course, and Yakima Meadows.
She was a victim of a serious motorcycle accident later in life that left her somewhat disabled, yet she continued to persevere and taught those around her to continue to live life to the fullest. She became the epitome of strength, courage, and the willingness to live life to those that knew her.
Becky was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” “Spike” Neils; her mother, Thelma Mae Neils; her father-in-law, Orin Hanson; her mother-in-law, Naomi Raulston Hanson; her husband, Milton A. Hanson; her brother, Allan E. “Butch”Neils; her brothers-in-law, Marvin Hanson and Everett Hanson; and her nephew Scott A. Neils.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Diane Neils, and Sharon Hanson. Her children; Mike (Lisa) Hanson, Tim Hanson, Erik (Candy) Hanson, Kelli Hanson, Kari (Matt Schmidt) Hanson, and Kurt Hanson.
Her nephews and nieces; George (Stella), Randy, Lori, Theresa (Rick), Shayne (Kathy), Ann (Jeff) and Debbie (Rufus). Her grandchildren; Cheyenne, Taylor, Alexis, Kenzie, Savannah, Courtney, Devin, and Aidan. Her great-grandchildren; Ava and Blossom.
Throughout her life, Becky was a dedicated and caring presence to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.
Becky’s love and kindness will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Becky’s love will continue to shine in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
A service celebrating her life will be determined at a later date to include family and friends.
