Neil Allan Green of Spokane, Washington passed away on December 8, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on May 20, 1937, the oldest child of Wilbur Bartlett Green and Dorothy Margaret (Stadler) in Wenatchee, Washington. He spent most of his younger years in the Kent area, graduating from Kent Meridian High School. Neil married his high school sweetheart, Roberta Ann Gorman on October 13, 1956. Together they raised five children.
He started his career with Pacific Northwest Bell as a lineman and retired after 34 years as a project engineer with US West. When he retired, he and Roberta moved to Spokane, Washington.
Neil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family meant the world to him. He enjoyed family hiking/camping trips, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and participating in Boy Scouts with his son. His children considered him their most important mentor and teacher.
Technology was Neil’s passion. He always had an impressive collection of computers and electronic devices. He patiently helped family and friends with computer issues. He volunteered at Midway Elementary School, running the computer lab, where he was affectionately known as Grandpa Green. He shared his technology skills with Colbert Presbyterian Church, maintaining the church website. An avid golfer, he enjoyed golfing with family and friends, young and old. He loved watching college basketball, especially cheering for the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Roberta; siblings Leonard, David, Kathy Zerr, Janet Lea, Phyllis Williams; children Teresa Sherman (Rick), Michael (Vicki), Karen Armstrong (Eric), Joan Jacobson (Jeff), Michelle Burger (Steven); grandchildren Caitlin, Anneli, Emmie, Kyle, Jordon, Kendra, Juliana; and great grandchildren Patrik and Noah.
Neil will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, kindness, and generosity. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. A private family service will be held later to honor Neil’s life. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Meals on Wheels or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
