Merilyn was born in Azusa, Southern California on October 27th 1934 to Velma and Maury Maehl. Her father was a yacht captain and boat owner. She spent her childhood between a small farm in Azusa and on her fathers boat, the Otay, traveling to Baja and Catalina Island. Her younger siblings are Maureen Cavasos and Captain James (Jim) Maehl.
Merilyn had seven children, Deborah, Elizabeth, Lisa, Tim, Amy, Laura and Aaron , all whom she dearly loved. She also had 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, who will forever love her.
She married three times, finally finding the man of her dreams, Larry Haight.
