She is survived by her daughters Margaret L. Walmer of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Cass Nevada of Seattle, WA; and June Lund of Chehalis, WA; as well as by her grandson Jake Peters of Forks, WA, and granddaughter Shannon Magee of Texas, great grandchildren Caleb, Rian and Fynlie Peters, Nicole Hamouch and Emily Pelonter. Susan Hay of Brownsville, TX, preceded her in death in 2019.
Mary lived a long, healthy, and full life in Long Beach, California, and Oak Harbor, Washington where she lived for more than 30 years. In the last few years she moved to Coeur d’Alene, to be closer to her daughter. She was curious and engaged with the world, enjoying travel, reading, chess, and many other pursuits. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the Education Department at the University of Washington — a role that matched her intellect and attention to detail.
She was married to John V. Walmer and later to Harold C. Todd, and in her final years, she found warm companionship with Dick Murray. Of all the places she traveled, her favorite by far was Iceland, which she visited with her daughter Margaret and longed to return to again.
Mary found friendship and meaning in the community of Unity Church of North Idaho. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
