Mark John Mostyka passed away April 27, 2023 at Multicare Deaconess Hospital, at age 59, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Mark was born on August 3, 1963 at Wiesbaden Air Force Base Hospital in Germany. His father was in the Air Force so, although his parents were Spokane natives, he spent part of his childhood on Fairchild AFB, and in Germany and Mississippi.
Mark’s family settled back in Spokane for good in 1973. He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1981. Mark started his career at Downtown Toyota in 1985,which enabled him to be around one of his favorite things - cars. He earned certification as a Toyota Parts Master in 1997. Mark loved his job, and also made so many good friends there. He was forced to retire in 2022, due to his illness.
Mark was always busy enjoying life. At various times in life, he loved playing his drums, golfing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, cooking, working on his classic car, fishing, and always just loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Denise (Mostyka) and Thomas Berg, Aunt Gayle Schumacher, Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary Schumacher, Aunt Anne (Schumacher) Harker, and many beloved cousins. He was preceded in death by his life-long love Pattie Bond, her daughter Carrie, and his father and mother, Stanley and Dorothy Mostyka.
The family would like to thank Mark’s amazing friends for all the help they generously gave during Mark’s illness. We appreciate their kindness very much.
We love you so much, little brother, and will always miss you.
