Gary was born on January 24, 1964, in Spokane, Washington, to Jerry and Joan Borhauer. He was raised in Yakima and graduated from East Valley High School.
After graduation, Gary moved to California to be closer to his mother and sister. It was there, at The Hot Rod Café, that he met the love of his life. They locked their eyes, danced the night away, and the rest was history.
Gary embraced fatherhood when Christina was 7, and Starla was 2, loving and raising them as his own. The family eventually moved back to Yakima, where they began their journey together as one. Gary was a steady anchor to his daughters, always offering love, guidance, and unwavering protection throughout their lives. He started his career installing insulation in residential and commercial buildings. In 1993, he and his family moved to Spokane, where he continued his work with Thermoguard Insulation. Gary took great pride in his trade and was especially proud to have personally installed the insulation in the Spokane Arena. He later became a respected salesman for Professional Insulation, where he was admired for his strong work ethic, warm personality, and ability to connect with everyone he met.
Gary and his wife, Teri, shared 39 wonderful years side by side, bound by enduring love, unwavering commitment, and devotion to the family they built together.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Robby, Austin, Jaden, Isaiah, Gabriel, Jayce, and Sierra. His grandchildren will forever carry forward the love, laughter, and joy he brought into their lives.
Known for his signature white T-shirt, Gary lived with youthful energy and a passion for life. He loved spending time on the golf course, cheering on the Seattle Seahawks, and making the most of his season pass at Stateline Speedway. Whether he was sharing a laugh, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time with those he loved, Gary made every moment count.
Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, aunt, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
Rather than a somber service, Gary's family invites all who knew and loved him to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Terrace View Park in Spokane Valley, Washington.
Please come dressed casually. If you'd like to see Gary smiling from above, wear a white T-shirt or your favorite Seahawks jersey, share your favorite stories, and raise a Fireball shot in honor of an unforgettable man whose love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
