Everett was the eighth child born in the family cabin to Francis Lemuel and Elsie Pearl (Eiland) McCoy in Plainview, Arkansas on October 13, 1943.
When Everett was 6 years old the family began the long journey from Arkansas to Washington State. Along the way the family stopped and worked for share croppers picking vegetables, cotton and doing other odd jobs that would earn the family money to continue their journey. Once the family arrived in Washington State they settled in Spokane where the children attended school. Everett attended John Rogers High School and joined the Navy when he was of age.
Before leaving for active duty in Vietnam Everett met Pat McGlothlin who was at that time 13 years old. She was the sister of close friend Ken McGlothlin. Everett left for Vietnam in 1961 and served for three years as a Navy Seabee drilling water wells and creating landing strips for US aircraft. When Everett returned to Spokane he went to visit his friend Ken and saw Pat who was now 17. The little girl had grown into a woman and his heart was struck by her beauty. They married July 8, 1966, and settled in Spokane. In 1967 their first son Blayne was born and in 1969 their second son Heath was born.
Everett began his employment career as a plumbers assistant at Smith and Sons, working his way up to journeyman plumber while working for L&L Plumbing .
While visiting close friends in Chewelah he fell in love with a piece of bare land on Heine Road. Soon Everett moved his family to Chewelah and began working for Northwest Alloys Inc. in Addy. Three years later Everett and Pat purchased that piece of bare land, the forty acres they have called home for 50 years.
