David A. Nacke February 1, 1938 ~ October 1, 2017 Dave Nacke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully from this world on October 1, 2017, surrounded by his wife, his children and grandchildren at Rockwood Retirement Community in Spokane, WA. He is now at rest in the house of his Lord after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. Dave was born in Albany, NY, in 1938 to Edgar and Dorothy Nacke. He graduated from high school in 1955 in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. It was here that he met Martha Rand, who became the love of his life for 56 wonderful years. He and Martha were married in 1961. He worked for his father at Ed Nacke Chevrolet in Holyoke, MA, for 11 years. In 1972, Dave and Martha and their 4 children moved across the country to Vancouver, WA, where they lived for 45 years. Dave worked for Bill Marshall Ford in Vancouver for 10 years, and later moved into the banking sector, where he worked for the remainder of his professional career. Dave was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Columbia Presbyterian Church, where he served in several leadership roles, including Elder. Most of all, Dave loved his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, treating the grandkids to rides in the lawnmower trailer, or playing with them and the dogs at their Brush Prairie, WA home. He enjoyed reading, listening to classical and jazz music, sipping a vodka gimlet in the evening, lively conversation at the dinner table, a bowl of chocolate mint ice cream, and reading stories to the kids at bedtime. These were the things that warmed his heart, and he spread that warmth to the people around him. Dave will be sorely missed by the many people who were touched by his kindness, infectious smile, playfulness, and goofy sense of humor. Dave is survived by his wife, Martha, four children – Scott Nacke, Kim McKenna, Eric Nacke, and Liisa Bradshaw – and seven grandchildren who loved their fun-loving "Papa". A celebration of Dave’s life is planned for October 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Spokane: 318 S Cedar St. Spokane, WA, 99201. Memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Northwest Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association.
