David Alfred Fulfs

David A Fulfs, age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family & dogs on August 6, 2026 in Moscow, ID. Dave previously lived near Thompson Falls, MT & spent the majority of his years in the Pullman/Colfax, WA area.

Dave was born in Pullman, grew up on the family farm near Albion, WA, went to school in Colfax & graduated from Colfax High School in 1968. He met Marti Lothspeich while attending EWU in Cheney and they married in 1971. They moved to the family farm where Dave farmed until retiring after his 50th harvest.

Dave played County League Basketball, hunted elk, fished, boated, snow skied, motorcycled, attended Pine Grove Grange where he served a term as Master & served on the Board of Directors at the Pullman Grange Supply/Cenex. He had a flock of sheep for many years, snowmobiled for years with neighbors & friends in the Buffalo Hump Country, Blues, Elk River, McCall & Dixie, enjoyed lots of 4-wheeling trips in Idaho & Montana. He rode horses in the Mallard Larkin Wilderness, Umatilla National Forest, & the Blues with neighbors, rode on the National Bison Range’s Annual ride with Marti. He enjoyed cow penning, rounded up cattle on the Snake River Canyons with a good friend, rode horseback with the Wagon Train celebrating Washington’s Centennial & even tried his hand at wild cow milking! He had season tickets to WSU Men’s Basketball for years and especially enjoyed the George Raveling & Tony Bennett coaching years.

He loved his dogs from the smallest “Texas” a Yorkie to the biggest one “Harley” a Lab/Cross. He had 2 special horses over the years, Ferd & Moonshine. He spent many happy (& a few frightening) days and miles as those 2 boys carried him on adventures through many mountains with neighbors & friends.

He especially loved his music. Starting with a guitar he purchased as a teen, he was self taught. He starred in musicals in High School, performed with the ROTC Choir in College and played for weddings, funerals & local events (even for the Governor at the WSU Coliseum) until life got busy & he hung up his guitar for 30 years. His grandson Tanner found it in a closet and off he was on perhaps the happiest time of his life. He joined the Palouse Cowboy Poets (and Singers) and performed with them for many years. There he met JB Barber a poet, and they joined forces to become the “Panhandle Cowboys” blending their talents of music & poetry in to a successful team who traveled & performed around the west. Dave wrote & played his own music blended with JB’s original poetry. He was especially proud to be a finalist for the 2018 Western Song of the Year at the AWA Awards in Fort Worth,TX that he & JB attended. They recorded 5 CD’s as the “Panhandle Cowboys”. Dave was a lifetime member of the International Western Music Assoc, a member of the Academy of Western Artists, and a popular member of Cowboy Poets of Idaho for many years. Dave developed great friendships with musicians around the west and enjoyed every minute of it and appreciated having a wife that kept things running smoothly at home. A fun side note: Dave was in Kenny Chesney’s 1994 “Me And You” music video, filmed on the Palouse near Colton, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Fulfs & Elsie Druffel Fulfs; his cousins Becky Druffel, Mike Druffel, Andrew “Drew” Druffel, John Fulfs, Marilyn Fulfs Robinson, Frankie Weber & Tom Weber.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Marti, son Travis, three Grandchildren: Tanner & wife Kassidy, Lane & Brenna; Great Grandson Brooks; Daughter-in-law Brande; cousins, nieces & nephews.

He was very proud of his Grandchildren, each following their dreams & working hard. The weekend before he passed he was delighted to celebrate his Great Grandson’s 2nd birthday.

Through the highs and lows of life, Dave had a pretty darn good ride.

We wish to thank Paradise Creek Skilled Nursing while Dave was with them, his CNA Annie who was with him for almost a year, Elite Hospice for his final care at home, & his new CNA Niah who all gave him excellent care & friendship.

A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
