Yvette M. Milewski, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Michigan Veterans Home at Chesterfield Township. The family is grateful for the exceptional care she received.
Born on March 11, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, just three minutes after her twin sister, Yvonne, Yvette lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved. She had a remarkable way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for.
Yvette and Stanley were married for 51 years. Their home was built on love, laughter, and hospitality. After earning her associate's degree from Macomb Community College, she began her career with Blue Cross Blue Shield before choosing to dedicate herself to raising her family two doors down from Yvonne and Alden.
Home was Yvette's happy place, and everyone was welcome there. She was the quintessential hostess, delighting family and friends with beautifully set tables, thoughtfully prepared multi-course meals, and countless gatherings that made ordinary days feel like celebrations. Her kitchen was a place where love was expressed through food, especially her award-winning baked goods that earned honors at the Michigan State Fair. Whether it was your favorite dessert, a homemade meal, a thoughtful surprise made just for you, or a sincere compliment, Yvette found countless ways to show people they mattered.
Yvette possessed the rare gift of making every person feel important from the moment they walked through her door. Her generosity wasn't measured by grand gestures but by the countless small acts of kindness that became her signature. She would remember your favorite food, ask about your family, offer encouragement, or simply make sure everyone felt at home. Her greatest joy came from caring for others.
She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Paulette Milewski (Jason Brendes); her son, Christopher Milewski (Tracey); her beloved grandchildren, Cameron Milewski, Mikayla Milewski, and Jacob Brendes (Sarah Greene); and her great-granddaughters, Delaney and Deliliah Brendes.
Yvette is also lovingly remembered by her twin sister, Yvonne Bernardi (Alden); her sisters-in-law, Beverly Milewski (Eugene), Veronica "Ronnie" Pierog (John) along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley L. Milewski; her parents; her grandparents; her sister, Noreen Engelhart; her brother-in-law, Eugene Milewski; sisters-in-law Cecelia (Kralisz), Valerie (Fuhrman) and Helen (Herta).
Her family finds comfort in knowing that her love lives on in cherished family recipes, holiday celebrations, laughter shared around the dinner table, and the countless lives she touched through her generous heart. Her legacy is one of love freely given, hospitality without condition, and a family forever strengthened by her example.
In accordance with her wishes, Yvette was cremated.
Family and friends are welcome to attend either or both of the following celebrations of Yvette's life. A brief service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in honor of Yvette as she is laid to rest beside her beloved Stanley. An open-house luncheon celebrating her life will be held the following day, Friday, July 10, 2026, anytime between noon and 3:00 p.m. at the F.O.E. Fraternal Order of Eagles, 7542 Palms Road, Ira Township, Michigan.
Her table may be empty now, but the love she served around it will nourish her family for generations to come.
