Vera Rafferty

Vera Rafferty, age 89, of Allen park, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 surrounded by family. The daughter of Hazel & Edward Ruff, she was born on June 13, 1929 in Detroit, graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit, and subsequently was employed by Ford Motor Company for 28 years until her retirement at age 77.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul John Rafferty Jr.; sibling, Mary Reed and Sonny Ruff of Taylor, Fritz Ruff of Lincoln Park, Eva Musko, Bill Ruff and Wes Ruff all of Monroe. Surviving are her children, Sharon Gard of Decatur, Patricia (Michael) Mohney of Dowagiac, Jenni (Roy Gantt) Rafferty of Westland, Lee Rafferty of Coldwater, Cindy Green of Dowagiac, and James Rafferty of Allen Park; sister, Shirley Richards of Lincoln Park; sixteen grandchildren, Robert Mohney, Marjorie Mohney, Mark Mohney, Leslie Bergen, Sherry Ashby, Corky Dunblazier, Joseph Phillipson, Shannon Phillipson, Dana Horne, Nichole Green, Monica Kiggins, Jay Green, Ryan Green, Marlene Williams, Paul Rafferty and Kelly Kinsey; thirty one great grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren.

Per Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place and family will have a private service at a later date.
