Sarah "Sally" Ellen (Robertson) Guarino, of Fenton, Michigan passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Sally was born on April 17, 1929 in Bay City, Michigan and was in that time a courageous young woman who sought to follow her dreams. She would go to university at Wayne State, become a teacher and fulfill dreams of seeing the world- in an era where it was nearly impossible for young women to do.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Muriel; siblings, Jack and Corrine; husbands, Wallace Robertson and Armand Guarino; and granddaughter, Alyxandra Cornfield.
She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa (Robert) Cornfield; grandchildren, Nicholas (Lizeth), Mackenzie (Tucker), Mikayla, Allyssa (Dwan), Arrianna, William, Sara and Katherine; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Robert, Noah, Guillianna, Elijah, Mia, Anthony, Janai, Graylon, Elena and Cole; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
So many lives that she impacted but that have brought so much joy to her taking time in her later life to visit her and make her smile.
She worked hard to accomplish the many goals she sought after and she did so with a style and passion that can only be described as truly all her own. In the early years teaching in the Detroit Public Schools she touched the lives of her students and always wanted children of her own. She met and married the first of two great loves in her life Wally - and together they shared thirty six years of living, loving and giving. Following his death in 1988 she eventually remarried and would share the next 30 year chapter of her amazing life with Dr. John Armand Guarino. Two great unparalleled loves, that filled her soul with so many of the dreams she always had. From her early years in her pursuit of education, to being an entrepreneur, all her business endeavors, and to dreams of travel, as well as pathways to release her creativity. Quilting and sewing were a passion she nurtured and shared with all she loved. She loved music dancing, entertaining and creating fun memories for everyone around her.
Sally shared her smile, her laughter and her stylish attitude in everything she did and with every person she met It was she who put into motion so many actions that have lead to generational impact that as the years waned sat in her soul as her greatest joy. Teaching children her desire for family became a legacy. From adoption of a daughter, a foster child who was starving and unwanted to a the foundation of so many lives forever growing and evolving. Her life and her dreams, granted blessings for the lives of so many generations to come. From her passions and her actions, so many lives were granted opportunities. That unwanted daughter she took in- grew to dream like the mom who sheltered and loved her as her own. The dream for both of them - was to hope each opportunity given could impact humankind in positive ways. To pay forward. To teach, to give, hope and dream for others to be able to the same. Never making it too easy. Knowing the road in life is challenging and hard. That it takes courage and strength to follow the heart - she stood firm in her beliefs and felt others could always learn from the hard lessons life throws onto the path.
From her dreams and all her efforts- the opportunities she gifted her daughter a mantra or legacy was created - it is this …. Work hard- do your best to be of service, to help others leave a positive mark upon this earth; Making it a little nicer each day - be it for a neighbor, friends, family, a stranger, one small thing each day. A smile. An attitude. Humor or compassion. She was truly authentic in her ability to do just that.
We can all work towards a goal or the hope that our actions, our choices, our service- will make the world a bit nicer, Sally made the lives of so many nicer. A bit more joyful. A bit more fun. A bit more beautiful - THIS WORLD IS forever better because Sally left her touch, her style, her fingerprint upon the heart of every person she met - in everything she did.
