Sandra Kay Smith

Sandy was born October 12, 1940, to Joseph and Katherine Zarro in Detroit Michigan. Met and married Gerald Lee Smith on November 18, 1961. They were married for 53 years, parted only by Gerald’s passing May 29th, 2014.

Sandy worked as a successful Real Estate Agent for 40 years in Brighton Michigan. She had a close group of real estate friends that enjoyed going to Las Vegas to the casinos. The slot machines were her all-time favorite. Sandy had a clever wit, phenomenal sense of humor, loved to dance and sing (especially to Elvis and Michael Jackson) and loved watching horror movies. She also enjoyed sewing and she made fun Halloween costumes among other goodies for her kids. Sandy’s love for animals had her donating frequently to the Michigan Humane Society.

Sandy was full of spunk and had a sassy nature, but her smile was contagious and her kindness unlimited. She will be greatly missed for the immense love she shared with family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her beloved children; Paula (Mark) Zahn and Steve Smith; her siblings, Ralph (Jeanne) Zarro and Gary (Nancy) Zarro; her grandchildren, Maria, Isabella, Brayden and Avarey; nieces and nephews, Darin Zarro, Lea (Ed) Huber, Nikki (David) Koeb, and Christi (Maurice) Ewing along with great nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.

The family would like to give a special appreciation acknowledgement to these wonderful companies and staff at: Hampton Manor of Hamburg, Tiffany’s Compassionate Care and Compassionate Hospice Care for their exceptional care of Sandy.

A private burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
