

Robert attended Mackenzie High School. Following High School, he enlisted in the Army at age 17, where he served three years and achieved the rank of Specialist 3rd Class (SP3). Upon discharge, he was employed as a serviceman at Montgomery Wards. he joined the Pipefitters Local 636 in April 1968, where he worked construction. Robert retired from Local 636 in 1998, after 30 years of service.
Robert enlisted in the Air National Guard of Michigan as a Reserve on June 26, 1986. His unit, the 127th Tactical Fighter Wing, Security Police, was called up to Operation Desert Storm. He served in Egypt at a refueling base from Dec 18, 1990 to Jun 14, 1991. He was 53 years old when he was discharged from active duty. He eventually retired with the rank of Master Sargent with 20+ years of service.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Flowers, daughter Barbara Hartline (Dave), daughter Bonnie, son Robert, and his sister, Patricia Watchmaker.
Robert will be buried with Military Honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, on Monday, June 22, at 9:00 am. All are welcome.
