Mary Anne had a rare and beautiful way of making people feel cared for. She noticed when someone was struggling and offered help before anyone had to ask. Whether someone needed money, a meal, a listening ear, or even the shirt off her back, she gave without hesitation. She was the kind of woman who would give her very last dollar to someone in need, never worrying about whether she would have enough for herself.
Mom never had to have a lot to give a lot. She gave whatever she had—her time, her love, her strength, her home, her food, her money, and most of all, her heart. She often put others before herself because that was simply who Mom was. She cared deeply, loved fiercely, and had a softness about her that made people feel like they mattered.
That beautiful, giving heart was something she inherited from her beloved father, James D. Rollinger. His kindness lived inside of her, and she carried it throughout her life. The goodness he gave to her became the goodness she gave to her children, her family, and so many others. In that way, a part of her father will always live on through her.
As her children, we will miss so much about her—the sound of her voice, her hugs, her little ways, and simply knowing that she was here. We will miss being able to call her, talk to her, laugh with her, and tell her the things that only Mom could understand.
But most of all, we will carry her love with us.
We hope that when people remember our mother, they remember not only the life she lived, but the way she made people feel. She made people feel cared for. She made people feel loved. She gave pieces of herself to others without ever asking for anything in return.
Mom, you gave us more than we could ever put into words. Your love, your kindness, and your generous heart will continue to live through your children, your grandchildren, and everyone whose life you touched.
You gave so much of yourself to this world. Now it is our turn to carry your love forward.
We love you, Mom. We always will.
