Martin Richard Edwards

MARTIN R. EDWARDS A son, brother, and friend, Martin R. Edwards (Marty) passed away on June 27th 2026. His passing was peaceful and at his brother’s home and at the time of his death, he was surrounded by his immediate family.

Marty was a kind, loving soul, an intelligent man of few words. Not negative or mean, but grateful, someone we saw as genuine.

Marty was born at Foote Hospital in Jackson, MI on March 24th 1959. He graduated from Leslie High School in 1977 after which he attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in accounting. Soon after his graduation he was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.

Marty loved the sport of running. He participated in Cross Country and track during his high school years and enjoyed running marathons. He also made running a part of his daily routine for many years to follow. He was also passionate about music; he learned the bass and guitar, loved the Beetles and played in a number of bands. Other interests he followed included caring for animals, and supporting both the Democratic Party and St. Judes Hospital.

Marty is survived by his loving mother Elaine Cartwright, his older brother Ralph D. Edwards (Rhonda), and younger sister Tammara E. Hunter (David), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his father Ralph D. Edwards Jr. and stepfather Joseph Cartwright.

There will be a memorial to celebrate Martin’s life on July 31st 2026 at 3:00 pm at JaxNaz Church, 3905 Clinton Rd., Jackson, MI 49201.
