Lovie Marlene (Pawluchuk) Quesnel, age 80, tragically passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 in Farmington Hills, Michigan as a result of a car accident. Born on January 27, 1938 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Lovey grew up in Geraldton in northern Ontario.
After earning her nursing degree in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Lovey worked in hospitals in Niagara Falls, Toronto and Winnipeg, among other places. She also spent many summers nursing in the Geraldton hospital. Soon after marrying Maurice Quesnel, the couple moved to Puerto Rico for an extended time. They loved the island and its continuous summer climate.
Following her husband's death in 1972, Lovey spent another 10 years in San Juan, P.R., working at insurance companies. She then moved to Detroit to be close to her brother and sister, and worked in a doctor's office as a nurse for many years.
After retirement, she spent winters in Lake Worth, Florida to get away from the cold weather once more. Her condo in Detroit served as a summer residence.
Always wanting to be active and engaged, Lovey involved herself in a variety of clubs and activities, some of which included choir, volleyball, cribbage, animal shelter volunteerism and many more. Her greatest passions were animals, music, dancing and reading.
Frank Gallo, whom she met at a dance in Florida, was a big part of her life for 15 years until his passing last June.
Mourning her passing are her brother, Walter (Barb) Pawluchuk; sister, Kathy (Bob) Strifler; brother-in-law, Bill (Lorraine) Quesnel; aunt, Anne Slobodian; as well as her nieces, Nicole, Amber and Dawn; and her nephews, Bill Jr., M.J., Brian and Mark.
Lovey will be deeply missed by all her friends and relatives, north and south, for her hearty laugh, infectious smile and vivacity.
Honoring Lovey's wishes, cremation has taken place with the Neptune Society. Memorial contributions may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, any Humane Society of choice, or the National Audubon Society in Lovey's memory.
