

Kay is survived by her husband, Philip Blair; sisters Janie Jones and Maxine Lauer(Joe); children Gregory Blair (Cherryl Quick), Valerie Blair (Shawn Skau), and Nathan Blair (Cris); and grandchildren Jessica Ingenito, Jordan Blair, Jacob Blair, Benjamin Ingenito, Jenna Blair, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Jones.
Born in Southern Illinois, Kay moved to the Rockford, Illinois area early in adulthood. Kay and Philip met while working at Sundstrand, and were married on June 18, 1960, and then moved to Edwards Air Force Base, where she worked for the NASA administration. The family later returned to Northern Illinois, where they lived for many years before recently relocating to the Detroit Metro area.
Kay was devoted to church and community service, cherished opportunities to spoil her grandchildren, and cared deeply for relatives and those around her. Among her many interests, she was an avid reader and an active member of the National Audubon Society and the Sierra Club. She was dedicated to social justice and demonstrated that commitment through meaningful action throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life for Kay will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Second Congregational UCC/First Presbyterian Church, 318 N. Church Street Rockford, IL 61101.
