

Judith Alice Reynolds Waterman, 82, of Plymouth, Michigan, died on October 11, 2025. Judy was born October 18, 1942 in Houston, Texas to James Thomas Reynolds and Letha Marion Wilson Reynolds. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Claude Wilson “Jim” “JR” Reynolds of Nederland, Colorado. She is survived by her husband George Henry Waterman (married 1963). Judy is also survived by her daughter Sarah Marie Waterman Harcum and son-in-law Jonathan Brooks Harcum (Seneca, South Carolina), son Richard Thomas Waterman (Farmington Hills, Michigan), grandchildren Erica Brooks Harcum-Allen, granddaughter-in-law Meghan Elisabeth Harcum-Allen (Seattle), Emmett Ross Harcum, (Clarksville, Maryland), and Ellen Marie Harcum (Atlanta). Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandsons Elijah Ross Harcum and Augustus Murphy Harcum (Clarksville, Maryland), and many nieces and nephews.
Judy attended the University of Texas, received a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Resources from Wayne State University (1982), and received a Masters of Public Administration from Wayne State University (1992). She was a life-long educator, first as a Director of Religious Education at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington (Michigan), Director of Religious Education at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Detroit, a Head Start teacher, a rights advisor for clients at STEP (Services to Enhance Potential), worked at Wayne State University assisting new mothers with premature infants, and most recently as a Reading Core Volunteer for nine years in the Detroit Public Schools.
Judy will be remembered by her family as a great cook, artist, and planner of family get-togethers. The trips to Akamul, Mexico being a family favor. She was very generous giving to her family, church, and many worthy organizations that advocate for those less fortunate. A memorial service will be held on 1:00 pm November 9, 2025 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Detroit, 4605 Cass Avenue, after the Sunday service.
