John “Johny” Tibor Dinka Jr., age 81, of Grosse Pointe, passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2018 after a four-year battle with cancer, with his family by his side. The son of John & Mary Dinka, he was born on September 28, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario becoming the eldest of three children.
After graduating from Oakville Trafalgar High School, Johny began his 38-year career with Ford Motor Company. He was transferred by Ford to the United States in 1965, and retired as a Buyer in 1994. While working for Ford, Johny received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Detroit Mercy.
His enthusiasm was building and renovating the family cottage on Little Whitefish Lake in Ontario, Canada. Johny also enjoyed years of playing golf especially with the PUCCU Group, as well as hockey. He was an avid reader and crossword solver. Johny will be most remembered for his ardor of a good party, his smile and one of a kind sense of humor!
He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Patricia; loving father to, John David (Catherine), Trevor and Stephanie (Mike); proud grandfather “Pops”, to David, Jenna, Stephen, Maxwell and Simon; brother, to Carl (Sue) Dinka and Gitta (Ken) Mullaly; brother-in-law to, Stephanie Ouchi; and uncle to, Nicholas, Michael, Stephen, Kimmie, Kip, Kain and their families.
