Jim Bernard Robinson, age 84, of Pinconning, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026. Jim was born on October 31, 1941, in Biwabik, Minnesota to Bernard and Anne (Kolkka) Robinson. Jim graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. After graduation, Jim ventured to California where he met and married his first wife, Barbara. In the mid 1960’s Jim, along with Barbara and adopted son, Mike, returned to Aurora, Minnesota to help care for Jim’s father. Upon the passing of his father, Jim, along with his wife and brother, helped Anne run the family business, Bernard’s Supper Club, until it was sold in the early 1970’s. Jim worked for Minnesota Power and Light until 1975 when he took a job as a salesman for Langer Equipment. Later he left Langer Equipment to sell valves and rubber products to the mining industry for two different companies. Times got tough on the “Iron Range” around 1980 causing the two companies to shut down their operations. Jim moved to Reno, Nevada where he worked for Pioneer Equipment Company who soon moved him to Elko, Nevada. Pioneer Equipment Company eventually sold out and one of their major product lines, ESCO, opened their own office in Elko retaining Jim as a valued salesman. Jim was an unbelievable salesman bringing in a tremendous amount of business to each company in which he was employed. Jim lived in Pahrump for a few years before retiring to Arizona where he met his life partner, Charlotte, in 2016. Jim and Charlotte enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers in Michigan. Jim was extremely loyal and helpful to friends and family. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, but was especially drawn to hockey, as he was extremely proud of the hockey talent of his son, Mike. Jim loved cooking and sharing his famous popovers, spaghetti sauce, and smoked ribs with others. Jim enjoyed teasing others, creating, organizing, and reading. However, his greatest love was animals, especially his dogs, Rambo, Grace, Buddy, and Cooper. Feeding and watching animals always brought a smile to Jim’s face. He was forever filling a hummingbird feeder or placing a plate of grape jelly and orange slices on a stand for the orioles. Even the chipmunks were treated to cherry pits and dried corn on cobs. Jim is survived by his first wife, Barbara, son Mike, sister Mary Ann, and life partner, Charlotte, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Anne, brother, Joseph (Lynn), and sister, Laurie. To honor Jim, place a bird feeder outside, spend some extra time with your dog, or make a donation to your local animal shelter and know you are making Jim smile.
