Frank Robert Rusak of Sterling Heights, MI, died peacefully on May 9, 2023 at the age of 75. He was born on March 10, 1948 to the late Frank and Wanda (Szwejkowski) Rusak, and was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Rusak and sister Virginia Rusak Evaniuck. Frank is survived by his loving wife Sharon Rusak, his children Cindy Rusak and Frank (Katie) Rusak, Jr., and stepson Joe (Rachel) Racine; grandchildren Ashley Lutt, Lauren Lutt, Alec Rusak, Allie Rusak, Tessa Rusak, Blake Rusak, Brendan Bourdage, Malissa Racine, and Shelby Racine, and other family and many caring friends.
Frank grew up in Harper Woods and graduated with the class of 1966. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, earning both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his bravery and heroism. Frank was a proud war veteran and active member of the Outer Van Dyke Amvets Post 27, where he dedicated much of his time and energy to serving his fellow veterans.
Frank was a talented pattern maker and dedicated employee at Models & Tools (aerospace tooling and manufacturing) for many years until his 2014 retirement. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was proud of the work he did.
Frank loved fishing and spending time with friends and family, and he had a special bond with his beloved dog Walter. He had a wicked sense of humor that would light up any room, and he was always ready with a joke or a funny story to make those around him laugh. Despite his battle with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, he remained brave and positive, always focusing on the good things in life.
Frank will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones who have passed before him, and watching over his family from above. We will always remember Frank's loyalty, his patriotism, and his loving spirit. Rest in peace, Frank.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell Folbe, Troy Beaumont Hospice and all who were there to support and help Frank and his family throughout this very difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Frank's name to the Vietnam Veterans of America. Honoring Frank’s wishes following cremation, a celebration of Frank's life will take place later this spring with a committal service and inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
