Elizabeth “Betsy” Mueller Pease passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 78. She was born on October 13, 1946, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to John and Elizabeth Mueller (née Murphy).
At age seven, Betsy moved with her family to Royal Oak, Michigan, where she later graduated from Shrine High School. She went on to attend Western Michigan University. A creative soul, Betsy expressed her talents through photography, which she pursued both professionally and for personal enjoyment over the years. Later in life, her love for language and literature guided her to a fulfilling career as an editor at Campbell-Ewald.
Betsy was a profoundly nurturing and selfless person, remembered by many for the loving care she provided to her husband, Jerry. The two were inseparable best friends and soulmates during their 53-year marriage. In the final years of Jerry’s life, as his health declined, Betsy’s devotion and compassionate care were unmatched—a testament to her unwavering love.
Betsy found beauty everywhere she looked, whether in a sunset, a starry night by a bonfire in Greenbush, or the changing of the seasons. She cherished words as much as the natural world, devouring books with an insatiable love for reading. In her retirement, she cultivated joy through gardening, swimming in her backyard, and creating magical holiday memories for her loved ones.
Betsy is survived by her three children, Mike (Dawn) Pease, Liz (Eric) Ellis, and Maggie Pease; and her beloved grandchildren, Eric, Caela, and Tyler, with whom she shared countless special moments. She was also a cherished sister to Michael (Patty) Mueller, Paul (Laurie) Mueller, Carl Mueller, and Marty (Marty) Bouveron, and an adored aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John (Toni) Mueller.
A private celebration of Betsy’s life will be held for close family and friends at O’Mara’s Restaurant in Berkley, Michigan. Her kindness, creativity, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Betsy’s honor to John Paul Home Health Care and Hospice, 30800 Telegraph Rd #3700, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
