Edward Knappenberger Sr., 84, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025. He was the son of Dave and Mary Knappenberger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Connie, his sister; Anne, daughters; Jeanine and Connie, son; Edward, grandchildren; Monique, Waylon, Rebecca, Shaun, Erika, Edward and Benjamin, and twelve great grandchildren Araya, Sammy, Inara, Corwin, Landon, Axel, Khloe, Zach, Mason, Alucard, Alexander and Ember.
He had many vocations through life, He worked in a cheesesteak shop in his youth to cooking at a night club where he rubbed shoulders with many celebrities to becoming a Nuclear Weapons Specialist in the Air Force. He worked for General Motors. Worked as a motivational speaker for ITT. Worked for the Barclay’s Company selling spirits for Hiram Walker Distillery.He was a truck driver, the director of a truck driving school. Sold photographs to High School band’s, choirs and dance studios. He even worked as a delivery guy for Advanced Auto.
Ed loved talking to people and telling stories of his life. You always knew he grew up in Philly and Wildwood NJ because it always made its way into the conversation. He loved to make kids laugh by talking like Donald Duck and most of his grand and great grandchildren knew him as Grandpa Donald. He loved telling stories about his career in the Air Force and enjoyed visiting the Air Force museum in Dayton Ohio where he could see all of the missiles and weapons he worked on.
He will be missed by the many people who love him and those who had a chance to meet him and hear his stories.
He will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
