Dona Rae Vogel

Dona was born in Norwalk, Ohio to Ray and Betty Whittaker in 1938. She spent her childhood years in Bowling Green and later attended Bowling Green State University, where she earned undergraduate and masters degrees. Years later, she received honorary varsity letter for her achievements in swimming and coaching.

Dona loved her family and had a servant's heart. She loved her job and the people she served-especially the students who needed a little extra help. She loved sports and taught elementary physical education in the Battle Creek and East Lansing school districts.

Dona is survived by Paul Vogel, her husband of 63 years, brother Jack (Cindy) Whittaker; sons, Jack (Martha), Jim (Lori), and Jeff (Kate) Vogel; grandchildren, Sarah, Lisa, Renee, Olivia, James, Rylee, JP; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive guests at New Hope Church (2170 E. Saginaw Highway, East Lansing 48823) at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 16. The memorial service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM and a luncheon will be provided at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dona's name to New Hope Church or Hospice of Lansing.
