Betty was born on March 18, 1931, in Evart to Jesse and Lena (Fulmerhauser) Stevens. She graduated from Evart High School in 1949 and soon began working as a soda jerk at Hooker’s. It was there that she made many wonderful memories and, most importantly, met Wayne, the man who became the love of her life. Their meeting was the beginning of a beautiful 73-year marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and wonderful memories.
Betty married Wayne on August 19, 1951, in Evart. Together, they raised three sons and built a life centered around family, friends, and each other. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who was always there to support her family and cheer them on. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, always looked forward to their visits, and treasured watching her family grow through the generations.
After starting her family, Betty spent many years as a stay-at-home mom. She later worked at local movie theater in Evart, The American Log and Tool Company and Miller Agency. In the early 1970s, she joined First National Bank of Evart, later NBD, where she worked until her retirement in 1988.
Betty loved being around people and brought humor and infectious energy to every gathering. She found joy in the simple things. She enjoyed gardening, preserving foods, and making candy during the holidays. But what made those things special was being able to share them with the people she loved. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and the Evart Car Club. Summers in Michigan with Wayne often meant taking their 1964 Dodge to car shows. She also enjoyed an occasional casino visit and never seemed to turn down an opportunity to have a little fun.
Retirement brought Betty and Wayne even more time to enjoy life together. They became snowbirds, splitting their time between Evart and Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. They made many lifelong friends and enjoyed long walks on the beach, dinners with friends, and their weekly golf league. They truly knew how to enjoy life together, and their love for each other remained at the center of it all.
Betty is survived by her children, Stephen Bingaman and Roger Bingaman; her daughter-in-law, Denise (Wolverton) Bingaman; her sister, Ethel Yost; her brother, Robert Stevens; her grandchildren, Scott (Cyndie) Bingaman, Patrick (Katie) Bingaman, Jessica (David Lee) Gatica, Erin (Scott) Miller, and Douglas (Ashley) Bingaman; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Wayne Bingaman; her son, Douglas Bingaman; and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Gatica.
