Alan John Godlewski

Age 69, of Sterling Heights, MI, entered into eternal rest peacefully in his home on May 2, 2023 after battling esophageal cancer.

Alan was born on January 7, 1954 in Detroit, MI and grew up on Lyford Street which shaped him as a person and brought him lifelong friends who he considered family.

For over 45 years, he was the Chef for many local restaurants in Metro Detroit. He was a master of his craft and was effortlessly creative, talented and respected in the culinary community.

Alan is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Maureen; their daughters Colleen and Kathleen and his cat, Rae. Alan was a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin & friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Alexander and Ruth and sisters, Fran and Kathleen.

The family honors the memory of Alan and invites you to attend a celebration of life Monday, May 15, 2023 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Mount Clemens, with the opportunity to share thoughts and memories from 6:00—7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 14 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, with 10:30 a.m. visiting.
