February 7, 1936 – March 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Warren Kent Knowles, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired LAPD lieutenant. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 10, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on February 7, 1936, in Westchester, Los Angeles, Kent dedicated his life to service and family. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1957, embarking on a distinguished 36-year career in law enforcement. Rising through the ranks to lieutenant, he led the detectives unit with integrity, strength, and an unwavering commitment to justice. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.
Beyond his career, Kent was a man of many passions. A lifelong stamp collector and enthusiast of Tootsietoy antique cars, he found joy in the details of history and craftsmanship. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, whom he loved dearly.
Kent was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth, whose memory he carried with him always, and is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; his children, Jeffrey and Ann; and his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Paige, and Darrian. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
At Kent’s request, no formal service will be held. However, we encourage friends, family, and colleagues to share their memories and experiences here so that his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love may live on through the stories of those whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
