Born on April 27, 1964, in Lone Pine, CA, Suzanne was the daughter of Arthur and Joan (Schmidt) Southey. From a young age, she embraced adventure and competition—thriving in sports like baseball, softball, and skiing, and enjoying horseback riding, hunting, and raising animals. She graduated from high school in Independence, CA, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Northridge, in 1988.
After college, Suzanne settled in Santa Monica. In 1990, she married the love of her life, John (“Bill”) Nall. In 1992 they bought their first home together in Granada Hills —a home filled with love, laughter, and a tightly bonded family.
Over a career spanning more than 30 years in accounting, auditing, and finance, Suzanne worked with multiple companies and maintained valuable relationships throughout her career. Her work ethic was unwavering, her professionalism admired, and her willingness to go above and beyond left a lasting impression on all who worked with her.
In both her professional and personal life Suzanne’s presence in the world was powerful and deeply felt. Each person she touched experienced her unique ability to connect with sincerity and care. She was generous, thoughtful, and endlessly supportive; strong, grounded, and wise; driven yet lighthearted; organized and always dependable. She lived with purpose and joy, consistently lifting those around her.
She believed in the importance of experiences and made it her mission to create meaningful memories—for herself and for those she loved. Whether hosting a gathering, planning a spontaneous trip, or offering a helping hand, Suzanne led with love and intention.
Her interests reflected her boundless curiosity and courage— dirt biking, off-roading, jet skiing, horseback riding, and more. She and her husband were a brilliant team - kickstarting countless DIY projects and accomplishing them with creativity and care. She loved cheering at sports games, discovering new foods (especially spicy ones), and experiencing different parts of the world from Singapore to London to Brazil.
Suzanne’s love for storytelling and laughter was contagious. She brought people together, encouraged others to try something new, and infused joy into even the smallest moments. Her roots in Independence, CA remained dear to her heart, and she often returned to the place that shaped her to share it’s special atmosphere with everyone she could.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, John Nall; her beloved children, John (“Buddy”) and Amanda; and her brother, Jim.
Suzanne, thank you for your laughter, your strength, and the light you brought to every room. You will be missed beyond measure.
