Sally Farr (Brauer) died in her sleep September 13, 2023, in Valencia, CA. She was 88 years old. Sally was born in Clinton, Iowa, July 15th, 1935, to her loving parents Irene (Allesee) and Frank Brauer. She was the youngest of 4 sisters. She graduated from Lyons HS Class of ’53 and worked at Burpee Seed Co. following. She met the love of her life, Donald Farr (Lyons HS Class of ’51) and they were married March 8th, 1954, eloping to Hernando Mississippi getting married in a gas station owned by the Justice of the Peace. They moved to CA, and she worked at General Dynamics/Convair where she learned about the aerospace industry and met her forever friend Tula Nicholas. They were parents to 2 daughters who were adored. Don’s job moved them from CA to Heidelberg, Germany in the mid 1960’s, back to CA and then Albuquerque, NM where she worked at UNM. Another move to Lynchburg, VA in the early 80’s where she ran a snack shop at a golf course with her friend Bobbie and learned how to play golf. They had their church wedding 25 years after they eloped. Sally enjoyed her bowling leagues and won many trophies over the years. She also loved her poker and bridge groups. In 1983 they returned to Santa Clarita, CA and she worked as a Sr. Administrative Assistant for Teledyne/Litton and then Northrup Grumman before retiring. Sally loved traveling with the “Bitches” to many places including Duck, NC, and wineries. She especially enjoyed spending time with her beautiful grandchildren. She loved all her friends and enjoyed many trips and special lunches where she always shined.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Don’s mother Nellie Bailey who she thought of as her own, her sisters, Betty Jennings, Phyllis Blomme, and Barbara Iliff-Minte, as well as her nephew Ray Jennings and niece Bonnie Iliff-Steinhauer. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Donald Farr (90), Valencia, CA, sister in law Karyn Farr and husband Don Berkebile, Don’s cousin Judy Bailey, daughter Erika and her husband James Leventis of La Mesa, their children, Corey Leventis, Columbiana, AL, and Kayla Leventis, Carlsbad, CA as well as her daughter Jolene and her husband Glen Elroy, Valencia, CA and their daughter Taylor Walters, Salem, Oregon, many nieces and nephews and so many friends. She was cremated and a celebration of life is planned for early next year.
