Dr. James C. Smith, age 77, died of heart failure. Dr. Smith had an eclectic range of abilities and interests ranging from history to science, to a love of nature. Dr. Smith who got his PhD from UCLA, held patents that include: an ear implant; mods of human behavior and perception in relation to man-machine systems; and use of animal super-senses in relation to various applications. His jobs ranged from researcher, writer, university lecturer, boat builder and inventor. His final career was a computer scientist for the FBI. His moral integrity and modesty could not be questioned as was willing to help anyone who needed it. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and two children, Kim and Dave. A memorial celebration of life is being planned.
