Inge Elise Jones

Inge Elise Jones passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. She was surrounded by local friends and neighbors, as well as family calling from Denmark.

She was born on July 6, 1938, in Ålborg, Denmark, to Julius Emil Faber and Magda Kirstina Faber (Andersen). While living in Ålborg, she met Thomas Reginald Jones, who was working in Denmark as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft Co. The couple married in Denmark on November 18, 1961.

In the 1960s, Inge and Tom relocated to Los Angeles. After brief periods living in England and France, they purchased a lot in Malibu near the Getty Museum in 1976 and built their home. That same year, Inge was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease she successfully fought for the rest of her life.

Tom died of prostate cancer in 1996. Following his death, Inge continued to live in their Malibu home, where she frequently hosted friends and visiting family. She was known for preparing traditional Danish meals, including pork with crackling, red cabbage, and open-faced sandwiches — always with a shot or two of aquavit. She served on the board of Les Marraines, a philanthropic women’s group supporting the Blind Children’s Center in Los Angeles.

After losing her home in the Malibu fire of January 2025, Inge moved to an independent senior living facility in Playa Vista. There, alongside her next-door neighbor—who was also a former Malibu neighbor—she continued hosting small gatherings over aquavit.

Inge was preceded in death by her husband, Tom. She is survived by her brother, Jens Faber (Tove); her nieces, Julie Faber (Martin), Jeanette Schjaellerup (Jesper), Christina Faber, and Susan Jørgensen; and her grandnephews, Jonas Schjaellerup, Johan Schjaellerup, Isaak Faber, and Jeppe Faber. She also served as Mormor (grandmother) to Roberto Andersen Vaus, the grandson of a beloved late friend from Denmark.

Her ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean in the same location where she placed her husband’s ashes — and her wedding ring — 30 years ago. Donations may be made in her name to prostate and breast cancer research.
