It is with profound sadness, and with gratitude for a life well lived, that we share the passing of Georgia Gale Jeffery at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her parents, George (Jeff) Jeffery and Isobel (Johnston) Jeffery, and by her beloved brother, William (Bill) Jeffery. Georgia leaves behind her niece Barb and fur babies Finnegan (passed in 2024), Rocky and Willow whom Georgia held dear; her nephew Bill and wife, Leanne, their children, Erika and Reed; and her niece Ellen, husband Lance, and their children, Malia and Austin. But the circle of people who will miss Georgia extends far beyond any list of names.
A dedicated nurse, Georgia brought not only skill and professionalism to her work, but also the compassion and humanity so deeply needed by patients and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments. This devotion to caring for others was not just Georgia’s profession; it was at the heart of who she was. Georgia was the person others could turn to when they needed help, comfort, encouragement, or support. If something was within her means to give - her time, love, attention, money - she gave it freely. She never hesitated to step up for the people she loved, often offering before being asked. Those whom she loved always knew they mattered to her because she stayed connected and remained present, no matter the distance.
She was a wonderful aunt to her two nieces and nephew. But “Aunt Georgia” was a title that reached well beyond her immediate family. Extended family and friends used it with affection and respect, and over the years it became part of who she was to so many people. She loved that and embraced it so fully that even her license plate read “Tante G” (“Aunt G” in French)…A one-of-a-kind license plate for a one-of-a-kind woman.
Georgia also knew how to enjoy the finer things in life: good food, a nice glass of wine, L’Air du Temps perfume, gold jewelry, well-manicured nails, and beautifully coiffed hair. She loved books and was an avid reader. She was a lifelong sports fan whose love of sports began in childhood and remained a source of joy throughout her life. Georgia also loved to travel, creating a lifetime of memories as she visited people and places both near and far. She embraced life with curiosity, style, and appreciation, finding joy not only in where she went and what she experienced, but especially in the people with whom she shared it.
Georgia was also a woman of strong Christian faith, and her church held an important place in her life. She loved singing in the choir and treasured the comfort, friendship, and sense of belonging she found within her church community. Over the years, many members of her church became her chosen family. Her faith was a steady guide throughout her life, giving her strength in difficult times, purpose in everyday moments, and the comforting belief that those we hold dear are never truly lost to us. She carried with her the hope of one day being reunited with her beloved brother, Bill, who was taken far too soon, as well as with her mother and father and the dear friends and loved ones who had gone before her. Georgia believed that this life was not the end and that one day she would be reunited with the people she had loved and lost along the way. For those who loved her, there is comfort in remembering this.
Georgia’s legacy is one of unconditional love, faith, compassion, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved. She was loved by so many people, and she will be missed more than words could ever express. Rest well, Aunt Georgia. We will “love you forever and ever”.
