Garry Stanley Severson

Born on December 17, 1953, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, Garry graduated from Eleva-Strum Central High School. He proudly served his country in the Army, spending six years stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, earning double majors in Finance and Business Management. He went on to dedicate over 30 years of his life working as a skilled mason for TMH Masonry in Waunakee, Wisconsin, leaving a tangible, lasting legacy in the structures he helped build across the region.

Garry was a devoted father who taught his family the values of dedication and hard work. He possessed a great sense of sarcasm that brought laughter and lightheartedness to those around him. An avid racing enthusiast, he rarely missed a NASCAR or Formula One race—and he always had a cocktail in hand when watching the races. He also enjoyed diving into home projects where his craftsmanship truly shined.

Above all, his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. Garry absolutely cherished spending time with them, thoroughly spoiling them at every opportunity and always making sure they had plenty of treats. The wonderful memories they created together will be held dearly forever. He will be remembered as a steady presence and an enduring spirit who left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Gretchen (Theodore) Severson-Ritter; his beloved grandchildren, Katalina Nowak, Nathaniel Severson-Ritter, and Paityn Severson-Ritter; his siblings, Sherry (John) Severson and Darrell Severson; and nephews Travis and Troy Severson, and Dusty and Brody Dascher.

He was preceded in death by his son, Reece Severson, and his parents, Stanley Severson and Jeanean Mertens.

A celebration of Garry's life will be held at a later date in 2027 at the Severson Cemetery.
