
Frederick Albert Houghton Snow was welcomed to the world on February 7, 1937, by his parents, Frederick Henry and Hilda, and sister, Mary. Northallerton, England was his first home—and a place he would remain fond of his entire life.
From there, Fred embarked on a full life that took him around the world—to high school in Sheffield, university in London, starting a family with his first wife Dorothy and sons Frederick Philip (Phil) and James in Manchester, England and Massachusetts, and spending his later years with second wife Olena and third son John in California, Florida, and Zurich, with many adventures in between that took him to six continents. Along the way, Fred made lots of friends with his wit, charm, and love for life. He also became a loving and devoted grandfather to Matthew, Piper, and Rocco.
Fred was a pioneer in the computer world, in which he worked for nearly fifty years, from the early days of mainframes to the advent of high-speed mobile devices. Fred was a highly accomplished senior sales executive at numerous companies. His decades of hard work allowed him to support his family and provide many rich and memorable experiences.
Fred pursued diverse hobbies throughout his years, including gardening, painting, bread making, coffee roasting, raising chickens, rugby, soccer, and golf. He also loved animals, especially his dogs Buster, Aza, Truman, and Dexter.
Fred passed on November 5, 2024. He made a positive impact on many peoples’ lives and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Olena; sons Phil, James, and John; daughters-in-law Jenni, Rebecca, and Chelsea; and grandchildren Matthew, Piper, and Rocco.
